Archers Holding a current Archery GB Membership

We are very pleased to welcome visiting archers from around the country (and beyond) who have an existing membership with Archery GB or a similar World Archery recognised organisation.  Anyone wishing to join us for one of our regular club shoots at a per session cost of £5 please contact us through this website and we can accommodate you and make you aware of any special events.  Archers are able to visit us for up to 6 sessions per year.  We do not currently have facilities to accept Associate Members.

Visiting archers are not permitted to use the facilities to solo shoot, or shoot outside of regular club sessions.

Individuals

All individuals wishing to take up the sport of archery must complete a beginners course at an Archery GB affiliated club.  This 4-week course covers everything you will need to know to get you started on your progress towards the Olympic gold!  Details can be found on our beginner’s courses page, or contact us to sign up for our next course. Following successful completion of this course, you will be invited to join the club.

Lapsed holders of Archery GB Membership

If you have previously been a member of an Archery GB / GNAS club, but your membership has lapsed for more than 3 years, you will be expected to compete a beginners course as above.  If your membership has lapsed within 3 years, we will be happy to arrange an assessment session with you at a convenient time where one of our coaches will review your practices and where appropriate equipment to ensure the safety of yourself and other members.

Progression

Following on from the beginner’s course, new members will have the opportunity to attend a Boost course, which will, in a series of 6 structured sessions expand on what has been learnt and ensure that you are guided through everything you may need as a member of the club.  Areas of the syllabus in this course include GNAS and FITA rounds, target boss set up, more information on equipment and of course the opportunity to mix with other members on a regular club shoot.

After completing this course, members can work towards numerous Archery GB progress awards, both indoors and outdoors, as well as of course, shooting representing the club at local and National events.

The progression Scheme at Brixham Archers is administered by Malcolm Grant.
