About Us

Brixham Archers was formed in 1969 and is probably the largest of three archery clubs located in Torbay.

We support both target and field archery and regularly host open tournaments
(indoor, outdoor, and field).

We have a range of membership representing male and female
from about 8 years old well into retirement.
Degrees of skill vary from beginners level to "county squad standard"

Membership of Brixham Archers carries with it affiliation to the
National governing body Archery GB (was the Grand National Archery Society until 2008),
the Regional association GWAS (Grand Western Archery Society),
the County association DCAS (the Devon and Cornwall Archery Society)

Currently membership stands at approximately 50, but the Club is always ready to welcome new members.

Where To Find Us

Brixham Archers are located on the South coast of Devon in the area known as Torbay, which comprises the towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.

We operate at several sites throughout the year, but our home base is at our Churston Field, adjacent to Churston Ferrers Grammar School.

The entrance to the field is next to the Gliddon Ford Garage on the main A3022 heading towards Brixham. The entrance is marked with a large banner.

We are fortunate to be able to use this field at any time of the week, as long as the usual safety regulations are observed. (Click on the image on the left to see how to get there).

Our outdoor open target archery tournaments are usually held on the Grammar School playing field which is immediately adjoining our home field (Click on the image above to see how to get there).

When attending our Outdoor Open Tournaments that are held on Churston Ferrers Grammar School's playing field: Please drop off your equipment at the entrance to the new field pavilion and take your vehicles back over the other side of the railway line and park in the school car park in Greenway Road.

During the late autumn and winter months we shoot indoors at Churston Grammar School sports hall. We shoot here on a Tuesday and Friday evening (school holidays permitting).

We also hold our indoor open tournaments at this location in February and October each year.
(Click on the image on the right to see how to get there).

“Brixham Archers,

Dear Malcolm,

This is just a line to thank you and the Group so very much for such a super friendly evening. We had a brilliant time and were very grateful to you for giving us such brilliant one to one tuition. I think after just one session we had all improved, which had nothing to do with the Mars bars! I for one realise that the true art is in making it look so effortless, but we couldn't fail to be impressed with the standards of safety and discipline, something the Archers at the Battle of Crecy (1346) would admire. We would very much like to return but in the meantime our grateful thanks.

Yours sincerely,”

From Yorkshire

"After attending Brixham Archers on the evening of Tuesday 21st June 2011, I wish to convey my gratitude to both Mrs Judith Booker and to Malcolm (Grant) for how warmly my friend and I were received and accommodated.

My friend, Steve, had never done archery before, but had a great evening, being allowed to join in with the beginners' course. He sends his thanks for allowing this to happen at such short notice.

I was particularly impressed with how quickly my calls were returned and with the flexibility of those involved when it came to allowing us to shoot for the evening. I hope that any of the Brixham Archers are ever in the vicinity of the Wakefield Archers and contact us about attending for an evening, that the same levels of courtesy are returned.

My best regards to you for the future.

Yours Sincerely.

James."
