Beginners Courses

Have you been watching the Olympics or seen archery in films or TV shows and thought to yourself “I wouldn’t mind giving that a try?” If you have then why not come and join one of our beginners courses.

All ages, sexes and abilities are encouraged to come and try. Our courses are run in a safe but informal manner with the emphasis on you enjoying this great sport.

All coaching is carried out by our Archery GB qualified coaches and their assistants.

Beginners courses will consist of four sessions of approximately two hours duration. The club will provide all the necessary equipment so all you need to bring along is yourself.

Juniors between the ages of eleven to fourteen are required to have a Parent or Guardian present throughout. We regret that the club cannot accommodate juniors under the age of eleven unless their Parent or Guardian is already a full member of the club or is also attending the same course.

Pupils will need to wear tight fitting upper garments, so as not to interfere with the bowstring.

The cost of the beginners course is currently £30.00.

Beginners, on completion attending one of our courses are offered  the opportunity to become members of Brixham Archers. New members may continue to use the club equipment for a short period, until they acquire their own kit.

Do not buy equipment until you have some experience and have talked to a qualified club coach or senior club member.

Check out some of the info contained on this site about styles of shooting, bow types, tournaments and some of our archers experiences.
