Archery Etiquette
Archery should be a calm, peaceful and good natured pastime. Consideration for other archers and people on the archery field should be observed at all times. If these rules are adhered to, they will not over-shadow the fun and enjoyment to be had by all, bearing in mind the necessity for absolute safety for everyone.
  • Be punctual.
  • Pay any due boss fees without being asked.
  • Be prepared to help setting out the field.
  • At Target Tournaments wear the appropriate clothing:- Dark Green or White or club colours.
  • When hosting an 'Open' shoot, members' priority must be to help run the shoot.
  • Do not talk whilst on the shooting line.
  • When talking behind the waiting line - do so quietly and with regard to those still shooting.
  • Do not walk off the shooting line when the archers next to you are at full draw.
  • Do not smoke whilst on the shooting line.
  • Do not go forward of the shooting line until the field captain signals to do so.
  • Never ask to try someone else's equipment (If interest is shown - another archer may well volunteer a trial).
  • Borrowing equipment is always at one's own risk.
  • If one breaks another's arrows by carelessness - immediately offer to pay for them.
(Arrows struck and broken in the target by another arrow are not due to carelessness)
  • Never run towards the targets - look for arrows on the ground.
  • When drawing arrows from the target make sure that no - one is standing in the way.
  • Do not point a bow towards another person (even without arrows) or up in the air - only aim towards the targets.
  • Be prepared to help to clear the field.
