Presentation evening social

Following a committee meeting last night, we have decided to make the presentations of the club champs awards into a social event to mark the start of the indoor season.

So, the date for your diary is the 12th September, at 7.30, at the unit. For those of you who haven’t been there so far, it’s Unit 6, Northfields Industrial Estate, Northfields Lane in Brixham. Drive into the town, straight across the traffic lights on the outskirts, take the second on the left after the lights (Lindthorpe Way), go up the hill and as you come to the crest of the hill you will see the industrial estate in front of you. Turn left into it, drive 100 yards or so, and turn left again, and its the second unit on the right. It has our plaque on the wall outside it.

Amanda has offered to organise a quiz again, and if everyone brings some food to share, hopefully we’ll have a very enjoyable evening.

See you there.

Autumn Gold Tournament

As most of you will know, Brixham are hosting the DCAS Autumn Gold tournament on the 7th September.

Just as when we hold our own tournaments, we will be looking to the members to support the occasion. There are a number of areas where help is needed. On the day before, a field crew will be needed to help with setting up the bosses, on the morning of the shoot, assistance will be needed with target faces, setting up the tents for catering, and the judges. We will also need people to man the catering tent all day, and for members to donate food to sell, and raffle prizes. After the shoot, help will be needed to dismantle the bosses and put them away in our store.

If you were at the Open shoot earlier in the year, you will remember how quickly and effectively it was all put up, and put away, with lots of people pitching in to help. Bryan was very impressed with the efforts of the junior members particularly. If you are planning to shoot on the day, you are still expected to help! People will be arriving from 8.30 onwards so we will need people to be there, cooking the bacon butties and manning the coffee/tea urn in particular!

I will put up a rota for people to sign up to help with the catering, it will be on the noticeboard in the store. If you can help with set up, and on the day with faces, please let Bryan know. If you have stuff you can donate as a raffle prize, please bring along on the day, or it can go into the coaches store prior to the occasion.

We look forward to seeing as many members as possible, shooting on the day, as well as helping. The more of us that are involved, the more fun it’s likely to be and the smoother it will run. If you are shooting, good luck.

2 way Western, yee haw

This Saturday, 30th of August, we are having a fun (not a formal competition) 2 way Western shoot. This is 4doz at 60yd and 4doz at 50yd, shorter distances available if required.

Any bow (excluding compound) can be used with sight removed.

Please be at the field for 12.30 to set up for 13.00 start, lane will be shut from 13.00 as we will be shooting back towards the containers.

Apparently this round has not been shot at the club for about 15years, so ALL welcome to have a go and try and set a new club record.

Cheers, Paul.

Hoyt Charger Bow for Sale

1

This is my Charger that I have shot for just over a year. It’s a left handed bow, the 30 – 40lb model in blue. The draw length is 26.5 at the moment, although I have modules to adjust it to 25 inches if you want.

It’s in very good condition, with a couple of nicks on the paint, where the rest has been adjusted or changed, and the wear you would expect on the string shocks. The photos show all of this. The strings and cables are all fine, and there is a D loop fitted.

The new price for the bow is £439 in Quicks at the moment. I’m offering this at £300 ono.
